Acts 1:21-26
Who else thinks this is an intriguing point in Acts?
Lets discuss it.
Why do the disciples cast lots to choose who will replace Judas? Do you think it was a good idea? Should we use this method today? Etc...

Well the general principle of casting lots is found in Proverbs 16:33. The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. There are numerous examples of lot casting for sacrifices (Lev 16:8-10) and distribution of land (Numbers 26:56, Numbers 33:54).
The idea is that God is the one who is determining how or to who the lots will fall. Notice that in Acts, the act of casting lots is not random. The two men who were chosen were men who had been with Jesus the whole time. Also notice the prayer that preceeded the casting of lots. They asked God to choose the man with the best heart. Only God can know the heart of a man. So God used the means of lot casting to enable the disciples to choose the man with the best heart even though the disciple did not know who had the best heart.
Why do the disciples cast lots to choose who will replace Judas? The disciples used lots to choose because they could not possibly know the hearts of the candidates.
Do you think it was a good idea? Yes, it was a good idea since the Bible speaks of it favourably.
Should we use this method today? Yes, but a bible study of all the relevant verses should be done first. Not all of your decisions should/will be made with lots. I know that Mrs. Duplessis used lots to pick her teams last year and that turned out well.
