Okay, so here's the test of a true quizzing nerd - have you already started looking at Romans and James?
I have a confession to make- I have. This seems really strange, since I won't even be quizzing in the fall! But yes, it's true -- I am addicted to memorizing God's word.
I do have some good reasons . You see, I originally started quizzing because I wanted to memorize verses (and of course, the demo made it look really cool!). I've enjoyed memorizing these past two years through quizzing, and now that I'm done, I don't see why I should try to break the habit. I mean, why should I try to de-motivate (if thats even a word!) myself so that I will stop memorizing?
Also, Romans is one of my favourite books in the New Testament. I especially like chapter 8. It talks about how we are Gods children, and are no longer slaves to our sinful nature. We are not even bound by the law anymore! Christ has given freedom - I am still struggling to grasp the extent of what he has given us.
Then I started reading James.... and I think that reflecting and pondering the words there is something I really need to do.
I challenge you, if you're memorizing this summer, to really dig into the verses you're memorizing and let God use them in you. It's a challenge to me, too, and I'd love to discuss the verses with you here.
So if you're reading along (or memorizing) and come across something that encourages or challenges you, share it with us here the next time you come on. That way, we'll be like the 'iron sharpening iron' mentioned in Proverbs.
